Cushion Spurge gets its name from its cushion-like, perfectly dome-shaped habit. In late spring, the pale green leaves are topped with chrome-yellow bracts that shine brightly in the garden. If sited correctly, the leaves will turn red in the fall. This is the best Spurge for northern gardens and it is extremely drought tolerant.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:
In zones 4-5, Cushion Spurge grows well in full sun. In regions south of there, it is best sited in part shade, avoiding the hot afternoon sun. It prefers average, well-drained soil. After flowering in spring, Cushion Spurge should be cut back to about 4". This will keep the plant more compact and prevent it from splitting in the center. It should be divided or propagated from stem cuttings every few years since older plants tend to become leggy. Use caution and wear gloves when handling this plant; it is POISONOUS if eaten and the sap can be a skin and eye irritant.
