Native to the wooded slopes and damp forests of southeastern North America, from Texas north to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Northern Sea Oats is a clumping grass that is treasured for its showy, drooping flowers and unique bamboo-like foliage. Its tendency to reseed makes it an ideal choice for mass plantings. The seed heads also make interesting cut flowers in both fresh and dried arrangements.
Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips: This grass is tolerant of most conditions from sun to shade, and wet to dry locations. However, it will do best in moist soil and part shade. When the seeds are mature, they can be picked for fresh or dried flower arrangements.
